Sculpted Wave Forms
The coasts of Washington and Oregon can be dramatically wild during winter. Every winter very high tides, called King Tides, flood the coast of Washington state. Add the force of storm generated swells that travel thousands of miles across the Pacific, and huge waves crash into the beaches and rocks along the coast. The force of these waves is most impressive at Cape Disappointment, WA where the mighty Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean's King Tides and storm swells head on. The result are huge waves that explode against the cliffs below the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Witnessing these crashing waves is awe inspiring. This is the first of two portfolios that include images from a recent trip.
