The Teton Landscape in Winter: From the Intimate to the Grand
We all love the grand landscape photograph, the more epic the better. But what to photograph after you've done the obvious big scene, like the Grand Teton, or what if the conditions aren't right for a grand photography? Easy - you zoom into the myriad small scenes that are everywhere in the landscape, and enrich the story of a grand place. This portfolio explores both sides of the Teton Range, the western side in Idaho and the eastern in Grand Teton National Park and Wyoming. While I love the photos of the Teton range, my favorites are the small scenes, like the one with a couple of trees in opposite corners and two sets of tracks crossing each other. Millions of people - literally - have photographed the Grand Teton, but few, if anyone, have photographed those trees and tracks. So it's a much more personal expression of the landscape, and, to me, a more personally satisfying image.
