Split Rocks near Westgard Pass, CA

A short distance to the east of Westgard Pass, which divides the White and Inyo Mountains, there's a formation of rocks that are split, cleaved and angled to no other rocks I've ever seen.  These rocks are as straight and angular as the rocks of the Alabama Hills are round and sumptuous. The formation offers an endless supply of graphicly abstract compositions adjacent to the road. These photos were made during the 2023 Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains workshop that Bruce Barnbaum and I led earlier this year.  I look forward to returning in 2024.
