More Than A Rock (With No Apologies to Guy Tal)

“One should not only photograph things for what they are but for what else they are.” – Minor White

The cacophony of rocks in the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, CA have long been a draw for photographers, artists and movie makers.  Their abundance, shapes and arrangements offer an infinite supply of imagery.  As I explored and photographed these rocks over a number of trips and years, I began to see more than "what they are".  Their shapes and arrangements are often suggestive of something else - something more than just a rock.
